The closing date for entries has now passed and we can no longer accept applications. We received a record number of entries this year – the highest since the awards began – and our judges have a tough task ahead. Here’s what some of our winners from 2007 had to say about the impact of winning their award.
Winner of Best Major Event – Brecon Jazz
Elizabeth Jeffreys, Vice Chairman of Brecon Jazz in 2007, said: “Winning the National Tourism Award in 2007 came at a great time as it helped us to establish the credibility of the event, providing some great press coverage. It also provided us with a boost to promote our 2008 event and the 25th anniversary of the Brecon Jazz Festival.”
Winner of Best Community Event – Gwledd Conwy Feast
Jane Hughes, Event Manager for Gwledd Conwy Feast, said: “We were so pleased to win a National Tourism Award. It provided us with recognition and confidence that our event has and continues to be a great success. We have also been able to proudly place the logo on all of our publicity material and website to enhance and promote the event further – it’s been great!”
Winner of Best Quality and Customer Care (Attraction) – Wales Millennium Centre
Bet Davies, Head of Corporate Affairs at Wales Millennium Centre, said: “We feel the award was a great accolade and came at a great time. After winning numerous awards for architecture, it was great to receive acknowledgement for the work undertaken by staff here who provide a very professional and welcoming experience for visitors, making the Wales Millennium Centre the number one place to visit in Wales.”
Winner of Best Quality and Customer Care (Caravan Park), River View Touring Park
Keith Brasnett, owner of River View Touring Park, said: “Winning the National Tourism Award in 2007 provided us with publicity and press which helped our business immensely. We also feel that as a result of the award, we were one of only two caravan parks in the UK invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace where we were fortunate to meet the Queen!”
